Arepa Queer

From ruins to pink royalty

Before it had a shop, Arepa Queer made its mark at the markets. Its founder, Javier Sánchez, an expert in 90s and 2000s clothing, spent years making a name for it at Barcelona’s vintage markets: La Puça del Clot, Flow Y2K Street Market, Viva Vintage Market.

From there it made the jump to its first bricks-and-mortar shop, at number 24 on Riera Baixa in El Raval, one of the city’s great vintage streets. Time Out announced it in February 2025, and we announced it like this: the most glam and gay second-hand shop in Barcelona is born.

«A la nostra botiga podrás trobar tot el que necessites per construir el teu look dels 2000 i ser la nova Bad Gyal»

Who runs it

Arepa Queer is run by migrant and LGBTIQ+ people. It’s an inclusive, diverse project and a tribute to the excess of the 2000s: Juicy Couture tracksuits, low rise, shine and colour.

Where the pieces come from

Every piece is handpicked, from around the world. The latest batch came back with us from Bogotá, from a thrifting trip around Colombia. We also style our own photo shoots, and throw pop-ups and parties in the shop.
